Gabriel Rosenstock agus Kim Sharkey
Mother Goose
A treasury of rhymes for young people in Irish and English. Translations of Mother Goose Rhymes by Gabriel Rosenstock with gorgeous illustrations by Kim Sharkey.
This book is a treasury of the famous Mother Goose Rhymes translated to Irish by Gabriel Rosenstock. Each rhyme is illustrated beautifully by Kim Sharkey – a whole new world in each of them.
“Mother Goose” is often mentioned as the author of hundreds of rhymes for children that have been passed on orally over the years. These Mother Goose rhymes are available in many languages the world over. And while these rhymes have a very significant place in children’s literature no one is quite sure who Mother Goose is.
It was the Irish man Oliver Goldsmith who first edited the Mother Goose Rhymes and here now is another Irish man, Gabriel Rosenstock, with a collection translated to Irish in this collection of bi-lingual stories for children.
Irish is the primary language of this publication but each rhyme is accompanied with the relevant English version, something that will be a huge help to those learning or teaching Irish to young people.
The illustrator Kim Sharkey won the Éilis Dillon award in 2020 for her work on another Éabhlóid publication Mór agus Muilc.
In total there are 79 rhymes in this book, each one presented beautifully on a full colour double spread page.
